My shoulder hurts
I decided to take today off, as I woke up with a very sore shoulder from working on one certain house this past week.
I got a call a week ago, asking about my custom work, and if i could maybe "spruce up" the other guy’s work, as he had neither the time (nor talent) to finish the interior of this house. What can I say other than I looked at it Friday, started it Monday morning. I made the mistake of asking of they wanted the walls "spruced up" as well while I ws at it. (This was a by the hr job) After a day and a half I had to stop and have a chat with the home owner. It would appear the "plaster job" (our term up here for mud and tape interior finish with joint compound) was a bit worse than was initiallly anticipated. So much so that we had to completely redo a house sitting with two coats of finish paint, waiting for floors. What do I mean completely redo? I put 11 boxes of CGC mud (60 lb contractor box) on 8000 square feet of gyproc in 4 days. I had to run a pass with a 14" curve trowel on the top and bottem of EVERY damn seam in the house just to level them. Pull a center pass, then re-skim Thus the sore shoulder I have not seen a house this badly butchered this bad in a loooooonnnnngggggggg time. And boy gowdie do i fuggen HATE fixing someone elses mess And this dude was suposed to have 20plus years at it. ![]() All I can say is: If this homeowner had just used the CP work/service dierctory and used me, he wouldn’t have had this mess, nor had to pay for it twice.. On a side note, just got back from towing the wifes truck out off a ditch. Her and the lil guy went for a spin in the storm on the way home. No one hurt, no damage, but she was a whisper way from rolling it. All the lil guy could say was "mommy’s truck fall down" ![]() |
