Your Chiefs Career Stats of Interest at the end of 2016.

Using the wonderful tools of pro football reference, here are the accomplishments of several players on the roster of the 2016 AFC West Champion Kansas City Chiefs.

All rankings are on Chiefs lists, not NFL lists.
  1. Interestingly, Jamaal didn't get much action this year, but it was barely enough to move him past Tony G into 2nd place all time in all-purpose yards (10,963 versus 10,954). Dante Hall remains in first with 12,356. Knile Davis ranks 32nd and Travis Kelce 37th. De'Anthony Thomas needs 156 yards to break into the top 50.
  2. Dustin Colquitt is 2nd all time in punting yards, and this one is exciting. Jerrel Wilson is #1 with 44,218 yards. Colquitt now has 43,310. He may break the 39 year old record next year. As reference, Louie Aguiar is 3rd with 17,930 yards.
  3. Alex Smith moved past Elvis Grbac and Steve Deberg into 4th place in all time passing touchdowns. He has 76 now and needs 29 to tie Bill Kenney for 3rd. Alex also passed Grbac, Deberg, and Mike Livingston to move into 4th place all time in passing yards, with 13,566. Next up is Bill Kenney at 17,277. At Alex's current pace, he needs five more seasons to pass Len Dawson into first place all time in passing yards.
  4. Spencer Ware moved past Len Dawson into the #25 all time spot in rushing yards. He needs 177 more yards to move into the top 20 alongside Joe Delaney. Alex Smith also moved past Len Dawson into the #26 all time spot in rushing yards, which is first all time among quarterbacks (including Dontari Poe). Others in the top 50 include Jamaal (#1), Charcandrick West (34th, above Bam Morris and below Arnold Delgado), and Knile Davis (40th, above Derrick Blaylock and below Theotis Brown).
  5. Jamaal Charles needs 1 rushing TD to tie Marcus Allen for 3rd place all time.
  6. Jamaal Charles is 11th in career receptions, above Priest Holmes and below Ed Podolak. Travis Kelce is 13th in career receptions, above Derrick Alexander and below Priest Holmes. Another year like 2016 will vault him up to the #10 spot. Travis Kelce is 12th all time in receiving yards, above Kimble Anders and below Willie Davis. Another year like 2016 will move him up to 9th.
  7. Tyreek Hill is 6th all time in punt return touchdowns, tied with Dale Carter. Tyreek Hill is 11th all time in punt return yards, above Noland Smith and below Abner Haynes. Another year like 2016 will vault him up to 4th all time.
  8. Tamba Hali is 2nd all time in sacks since 1982, above Neil Smith and below Derrick Thomas. He needs 37 more to tie DT. Other current Chiefs in the top 25 all time in sacks since 1982 are Justin Houston (4th), Derrick Johnson (12th), Dee Ford (17th), Dontari Poe (22nd), and Allen Bailey (25th).
  9. Eric Berry, Derrick Johnson, and Marcus Peters are all tied for 25th all time in interceptions. They need 3 interceptions to break into the top 20 alongside Brandon Flowers. Eric Berry is 2nd all time in interceptions returned for touchdowns, one behind Bobby Bell. Derrick Johnson is tied for 5th, one behind Eric Berry, and Marcus Peters is 14th.
  10. Travis Kelce has moved up to 28th in career yards from scrimmage, above JJ Birden and below Tony Richardson. Spencer Ware is now 49th, above Frank Pitts and below Billy Jackson. Jamaal is 2nd overall, above Priest and below Tony G.

How many sacks would Bell have had if they had kept track ? To lead in int TDs as a lb is impressive.

Bobby? It would be nice to know. Those guys retired before I really knew what to watch, so did Stram tend to rush the linebackers or did they just rush the front four? And if so, who was the primary rusher, Bell, Lanier, or Lynch? Any senior members on the board know the answers?

I'm also shocked that the NFL hasn't gone back and used game film to count sacks prior to 1982. At some point they won't have comprehensive coverage, but they have to go back to at least 1970, right? Pretty much all of the games since the merger have to be on film.

I believe Alex Smith is number 1 for the most rushing yards by a Chiefs QB too.

I take it Trent Green is #2 behind Dawson in most QB statistical categories.

Yep. The order these days is pretty much Dawson, Green, Kenney, Smith.
