James Bond's mom? fatally shoots self while adjusting bra holster

Christina Bond was tugging at her bra holster when her weapon went off, officials said Wednesday.

I'm thinking this must be James Bonds mom, name does add an element of LOL.

A Michigan woman was trying to adjust her bra holster when she shot herself in the face, authorities said.

Christina Bond, 55, was repositioning the handgun inside her brassiere when she looked down and fired a round into her eye, the Kalamazoo Gazette reported Wednesday.

"She was having trouble adjusting her bra holster, couldn't get it to fit the way she wanted it to," said St. Joseph Public Safety Director Mark Clapp.

"She was looking down at it and accidentally discharged the weapon," he said.

The New Year's Day shooting occurred at the woman's Lake Michigan home. She was taken to a local hospital, then airlifted to Bronson Methodist Hospital, where she died a day later, the paper reported.

A full autopsy report has not yet been received, Clapp said. The woman had served in the Navy and had been recently elected as a Republican precinct delegate.

Must have been a "Flashbang" bra/holster.

The first time I saw one I thought "Somebody is going to shoot their face off".

I never understood why anyone would carry a concealed gun with a bullet in the chamber. Its not smart to just rely on a safety for something that is often rubbing against your body or getting jostled.

You aren't in an old west quick draw duel, if you need it, just rack the damned slide, that extra second is not worth the risk of an accident.

Some cheap little CC guns don't even have a safety. I have a little revolver .38 without a safety or a hammer...

And I don't know why anyone would carry one without a bullet chambered.

"Wait, stop attacking me so that I can rack a bullet in the chamber!"

Either train enough to handle it safely or leave the gun at home.

Because the odds of an accidental discharge, no matter how well-trained or careful you are, is a hell of a lot higher than the odds that the extra second, literally I'm talking one mississippi if even that long, would matter.

Go to one, and I mean literally one self defense class and see how much time you have in an altercation.

If you are in a situation where the 1 second matters (you must be thinking of a street mugging or something, where you are jumped with no warning I guess. I was thinking of other scenarios), then you are probably better off not going for the gun at all.

The fact remains, the odds of an accidental discharge is a hell of a lot higher than the odds that the second matters, especially given the extremely high probability that you'll never be attacked or threatened in any way for as long as you live.

Completely agree with this. I have a CCW, and that is a decision I made a long time ago. I'd rather run the risk of losing a quick draw gun fight than run the risk of an accidental discharge.

Makes sense to me. In fact you have inspired me. Gonna go unload the shotgun I keep in my cock-holster right now. Not worth the risk.
