My bonus is i'm still employed.

Oh, on friday we are getting treated to guess what, an AYCE Buffett. I will have to fight through the geriatrics to get my piece of greasy fried chicken and mashed potaters. I guess its better than nothing, though.

Companies still do that?

Last I knew all they cared about was what made there bottom line look good.

Bonuses and giving gifts is not one of them

Last year I got $250 cash and a certificate for $250 to a nice clothing store. We had a big party with lots of food and drink and a gift exhange with a $30 minimum value on the gifts...and the company bought them all.

Will know about this year next Thursday.

I get a cash gift from the people I directly work for, not from my employer. If it was up to my employer I wouldn't get anything. I'm grateful for the couple hundred bucks I recieve from those people. Most people wouldn't give a shit.

I'm pretty lucky here. I got a cash bonus, a prime rib dinner at our Christmas party, a travel kit from my immediate supervisor, and I usually get a few things from reps that I work with. I got salmon today from a rep of mine in British Columbia.

I got a one thousand three hundred dollar check from the CEO of the hospital this past week. Of course that pales in comparison to the tens of thousands of dollars I saved them in drug expense for the pharmacy over the past year.

All in all, I'm still happy with the deal. :)

I should get about a 14% bonus next week. In addition our company is being sold and I will be bought out of all my PTO so I should get an additional 6 weeks of pay around the 1st of the year. Should be a good Christmas in the 2bike household. ( I spent all day looking at new bikes today)

We had our best year ever, we have all been busting our @sses to ship as many units as possible by the end of the year, we have surpassed every goal....NO bonus. We got a $12 steak dinner. The company's projected profit for the year is between 7-10 million bucks. Are bonuses of this nature tax deductible for the owner/employer?

My wife get's a week's pay added to the next paycheck.

I didn't get a bonus but me getting a promotion and a different position in a different department was/is all the bonus I need.

Plus the good news that I'm expecting my 3rd now in August.
Yes the 2nd one is only 8 months but I think I'm well on my way to becoming omish.(sp?)

Anyone ever have that feeling that life is going too well? I just sit and think that something's bound to happen soon to take a turn for the worse.

We usually get goodies from some of our supplier/vendors, and one of them has come through so far. A couple of them usually give us awesome spreads of snacks, but I'm still waiting...and holding their invoices to be paid until the goods arrive.

On the bonus front, I give myself a bonus at the end of the year if we have a good year, and we had a very good year in 2004. It'll be nice.

At the risk of sounding sappy, though, the thing that excites me most is being able to give nice bonuses to our employees when we have a good year. Last year was great, and we really surprised and delighted some people with great bonuses, which was a really nice feeling. Hopefully it'll be the same situation this year.

Got a $200 bonus this week, totally unexpected. Ran out and bought myself a bottle of Van Winkle Family Reserve Bourbon (http://www.oldripvanwinkle.com/newbs/vw/website3.nsf/docsbykey/HNEY-5FFM32?opendocument) and put the remainder into the fund for a new Ruger P345.

Handguns and high dollar whiskey, now that's how to spend a bonus. Too bad there aren't any whorehouses nearby.

Make sure to let your employer know that you're using your bonus on handguns and whiskey. It'll help ensure that you get good bonuses in future years, too.

I am presently awaiting a gift from my future summer employer. So far, they've done an excellent job keeping up with the Joneses (the big DC and NY firms). However, if all I get is a card, I'll have no choice but to take a clerkship with a judge next year for half my potential salary. :harumph:

I work for an employee-owned company (I own about 2,000 shares or 0.5%) and we got a $4 per share dividend in early December, which definitely helps with the Christmas shopping bills. To put it mildly, I can't complain.

Did I get a Christmas(can't take Christ out of Christmas) bonus? Eh, I work for the state gov't. We don't get diddly. We're lucky to have even gotten a cost of living increase this year. Hadn't seen a raise in about 3 or 4 years prior to this one. But I can't complain. At least I have a job.

For the Volunteers who come in I did a huge breakfast two weeks ago.

Then tonight, we are all going to the Casino to play in a Texas Hold em tourney. I am paying for everyones buy in, plus drinks and food all night.

Why not just $100 cash?
Good Question

Heck Walmart is the only place to shop around here. I guess if I gave them cash I would worry that they would just blow it on smokes (I know they can buy smokes at Walmart) but if buys a week of Grocerys or something they need I'll be happy.

We are going to the Dubuque Casino.
