View Full Version : Cloud is a WASTE!

I said Cloud was a WASTE of a 2nd round pick the SECOND we drafted him and I STAND by my opinion now. It's UNBELIEVABLE that any RB at ANY level would try to get to corner of the end zone instead of cutting INSIDE the block that he got on the goal line in the Tennessee game. It's basic RB 101 stuff. The EASY TD was there! Wasn't he supposed to have "great" vision? Sorry, but it was simply INEXCUSABLE that a "PROFESSIONAL" RB could have missed that seam.

Agreed TX, I kept yelling cut, cut, cut, now admittedly, I wasn't getting readied to be hammered, but if he is a pro, he should have known, or he is so tenuos in his position, that if the play was supposed to go outside, he was afraid Gun powderless, would put him on the bench again.

IMO, we haven't seen enough of Cloud to know for sure, until the Chiefs give him the ball for 20+ touches in a game, (this seems to be the magic # that all RB's say they need to get warmed up) if he doesn't produce, then you can call for his head. Until then, I don't think we really know what kind of player he could be.

Red,
I was yelling at the TV also!

WarPaint,
you have a legit point. Perhaps IF the Chiefs coaching staff would actually give Cloud tha ball 20 times, he reads the block better and indeed makes the right cut inside. Still, IMHO instincts should have taken over in that particular situation. He had to have seen the seam.
BTW, if they brought you back to run down the sidlines after a Chiefs score, I bet you wouldn't get as tired as you used to! *grin*<P>

Bottomline he is a "professional" (at least he claims to be). I agree with TX on this. That is "basic RB 101". No excuse for missing the read on that one. I guess if that is true about the 20 carries thing we are doomed for a little while with our lame RBbC approach.

Hey TX, since you are putting in a plug to get Warpaint back on the sidelines are you also going to plug to get the Chiefs to change there name to something more powerful like the Missourians? http://www.ChiefsPlanet.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

What's even more amazing is the fact that Gunther has always claimed to like the big bruising backs that are durable enough to carry the ball 25-30 times a game.

So what does he do? Drafts samll scat back players and lets them each carry the ball 4-6 times per game.

It should be a red flag to the general manager when a coach says one thing and then does another!

Tomahak,
Let's see, the Kansas City Missourians? It has a good sound to it, but IMHO it's too long. It isn't as "crisp" sounding as - say the Houston Texans! Also, I don't want to have to change my entire wardrobe. I mean people wouldn't recognize me without sporting an arrowhead somewhere!

Mega Chief,
Thats exactly why I feel the best backfield would feature Moreau & Richardson. Didn't Gun say that Mareau is the type of back that could tote the rock 25 times a game??? I'd give the rook a "baptism under fire" to see exactly what we had! That would solve the RB problem once and for all. Cloud clearly can't be that back and if Moreau failed, then I'd make RB a priority in next years draft! That way the Chiefs could finally stop kidding themselves. Of course I've been saying that for years now. What do I know? *grin*

So what's new? Cloud is completely pityful. I can't stand what a weak runner he is. Goes down if you get a fingernail on him. A weinie who can't run hard. Find a new Georgia running back...

MegaChief,
I think the '99 draft was one in which Gun had very little input, because he had just been hired and hadn't really been in on the scouting.
"00 draft was Gun's draft. He seems to have an eye for talent. It's to bad that he's an incompetent HC.
