With all the diverse quotes and he said they said things in the media, it is clear that the Chiefs need a major shake up, and it needs to start with Carl Peterson. I beleive that people get stagnet after a period of time (kind of like my mom's preacher 17 years and lost over 100 members)

We need a fresh approach to jumpstart a great organization!

I really think if Gun loses this season because of his stupid Resdkins offense appraoch this year, and is too stubborn to adjust the offense to the new form of football, he is going to get the James Bond special edition ejector seat!!!!

I really think that we need more than just the release of Gun. I think Carl has grown stale and too comfortable in his position. I think he--and we-- need a new challenge.

Carl peterson is not and should not go anywhere...YET. He is one of the best at what he does. let's face it, Bill Polian isn't available.

Carl needs to clean house...that is his job. If Carl refuses to shake up our coaching staff, then I agree...he should be fired.

We need to drift away from D coaches and find some O minded guru's. Carl knows how to draft D. We need an o minded HC.

I see Gun moving back into the DC position. (if not look for him to retire) Raye and Spurt are toast. Shaw will be our HC next season.

Ahhh, I see... unfortunately, he just signed a new contract. I am kind of on the fence about Carl. I guess, ultimately he IS responsible for the season stats. I will make my judgement at the end of this year. I really hope he is not trying t rebuild this year, because I think a LOT of fans are forming thier final opinions of the coaches THIS season. It will dertimine a lot about how people feel about the mgmt/coaches.

How would the addition of Shaw as head coach change the system that he is under now?

Would gun go back to DC??????

Once you have had steak...

Shaw won't change the system we are in unless he brings in his own OC. Shaw does not get my vote for HC. But Carl is well known to promote from within. He is a clear cut canidate to replace Gun when he either retires or when he replaces Kurt at DC.

What about Steve DeBerg for a Head Coach?

He always seemed to be smart on the field.

Another choice could be Lenny Dawson, if they could ever get him to leave his high paying gigs with HBO, KMBC-TV, and his Chiefs radio show. Lenny called most of his own plays and understands defenses (like most good QB's of his era). The only difference between Lenny and some of his fellow QB's of the past is that he has kept track of the game and the changes that have come along.

Even Vince Lombardi would suck as a HC in this era (assuming that he retired and stayed away from the game).

Remember Joe Delaney?
Some of us do and are acting on our belief that he was a hero.
This is a bandwagon that all are invited to jump on!!!

My opinion on what we need and what Carl may do are opposite...thats all.

We need an O minded HC.

Carl will hand the job over to Shaw.

Our only saving grace may be if Shaw can bring in a better OC and let him call the plays.

Okay we have all speculated now lets list actual guys that could be available

KC Jones

1) Tyrone Willingham - HC for Stanford. Gets his players to play above their abilities. Is a strict leader and great motivator. Offensively creative and gives his teams good schemes to attack opponents weknesses. My top vote.

2) Sean Payton - OC for NYG. Pretty young for HC material, but in 1 short year he's turned an underachieving offense into something special. Great offensive schemer, playcaller, and by outward appearances he's gotten the offense to execute well.

These two I consider above and beyond other canidates. Others I'd include are Gary Cowton the OC for Chicago, Al Sauners the OC for the Rams, Wille Shaw the Chiefs asst HC, and Dom Capers the JAX DC.

What about the Steelers HC? He seems to be floundering in Puttsburgh with no tallent. What could he do with the tallent in KC?

Bill Cower is the Steelers HC. He can sure fire up troops...however he is cut from the cloth as Marty and Gun. No thank you.

Cowher is still under contract to the Steelers. Considering he and Rooney Jr teamed up to get Donahue out, I doubt they are firing him. It would be very very difficult to get him, and you'd have to agree to compenation with the Steelers just to talk with him. Not likely.

You need to look at coaches who are likely to be fired, are coordinators, or in the college ranks.

I'm with Pam (well not really, we're 1800 miles apart!)... But it will have to be a big housecleaning party... I doubt it will happen... But if it does I'm volunteering to help them pack up their boxes!

Don't do it. Leave the present regime intact as long as possible. They'll work things out... eventually... and I'm willing to let that happen...

Ok, so toss out just about everyone in the organization. BUT, NOT CARL! Lately, Carl has been as money in the draft as Smokestack beans. On the Chiefs site, there is a chart of how the current team was put together. It's really quite impressive, considering all of the drafted, undrafted FA GOOD players. Hicks, Anders, Parton, Maslowski, etc. were all undrafted (or early released) and are good players. Check out the site.
