I have heard this on pregame show from the kcchiefs.com. His agent says he wants to test the free agency waters.

Comments?

I don't blame him. Just don't sign with a division rival, which he probably would...

I agree. He is as good as gone. You just don't pay that amount of money for a non-skill player. The question is: Do we have the right people to replace him?

Let him go, but be ready for him to go to the Donx. He's NOT worth the $$$. He's good, but he's NOT the best OG in the league and should NOt be compensated as such no matter what he thinks. Kiss him goodby and thank him but then slam the door and FORGET HIM!

Joe,
If he does, I hope he works out just as well as Reggie Tongue has! *grin*

I admit that I didn't vote for him to go to the probowl, if everyone doesn't that makes his price go down a lot. Not that I would promote that, but make sure you really want to vote for him before you do.

The CHIEFS can not designate Shields the franchise player next season.

Best - I believe they can, Shields said something in the offseason that said that if they want to do it again next year he could use the pay that comes with the tag.

Even though I've been a fan throughout his career as a Chief; I couldn't tell you his accomplishments as an individual (outside of Pro-Bowls). It would be tough to see him go, 'cause he went to my rival high school. So I'm partial.
