Former KU basketball player now playing for the Boston Celtics. Details are still sketchy. I just saw them break in with the story a few minutes ago on TV. They were only saying that there were at least five stab wounds, some serious. He is in stable to fair condition now after surgery.

You know...Paul Pierce?...that guy who got stabbed outside of a Boston nightclub...Paul Pierce!
Just messin' with ya. He's a forward for the Celtics, a professional team in a sport that's played with an odd-shaped ball (spherical) and is such that scoring in it is easier than any other major spectator sport. Despite this, some folks fight it fascinating.
ESPN reports that he was stabbed 11 times, once in the neck - and he was still able to walk to the hospital!

Dan - Isn't that the sport where the guys who get paid more money get less fouls and more foul shots? Where scoring is king and defense is just a good rebound?
Of course I only get a kick out of watching Spike Lee's team losing with him crying in the front row.

That's the one, morphius. That's also the only major sport where you can easily bake a casserole from scratch in the time it takes the final 2 minutes of the game clock to elapse. Of course, the game is kind of a recapitulation of the entire season. Hardly anythings matters but the end of it, and that part lasts forever.
