I am putting together a few compilation cd's for a canoe trip. I want the best songs ever written on there.

So what are your favorites? I know it's hard to just pick one, but when you think in your head "What is my favorite?", there should be one that pops right in there. Thats the one I want...I will take all my selections from this board, so make em good!

My choice will be Pink Floyd-Comfortably Numb.

Of course my contribution will be from ZZ Top and for the well known and oft heard I'd suggest LaGrange, however,if you're looking to get off the beaten path then go with Heard It On The X,a short little rocker that has some great pickin' in it.

Chag that stuff (minus the Doobies) is too fancy for a river. You have to take things you dont mind ruining or getting wet. Plus I just like to feel as hillbilly as I can when I go on a float trip.

Dude, come on...Hoegaardedn isn't fancy, they just always pose it like that in the pictures, it's an awesome ale to drink in the summer time - I strongly support it as a better summer beer than anything Domestic, ever!

But I guess if you want to be hillbilly and all, okay but why the hell would you want classy music?

Pantera-Cowboys from hell..

Just bring Pantera and throw that other shit overboard come to think of it.If I put Pantera on the compilation, I might put 5 minutes alone, but thats probably it.

I like to relax on the river and Pantera is not what I call relaxing...more like jaw rattling. Which is good on some occasions, just not floating on a river.

But...done! 5 minutes alone has been added. Thanks for your input!

ROFL I like the Billy Beer motto that he has on the can; it makes the "This is the famous Budweiser Beer..." look like a verse out of the Bible.

Is that the part of the movie where the chicks were seducing them?

If so, that was Allison Kraus?? The same Allison Kraus that my wife listens too?

Yes on both counts. Presuming that there is but one Allison Kraus in the world of American folk music.

When they're getting secuded it's Krauss, Emmylou Harris, and Gillian Welch, and a different song. Note that the "sirens" are played by actors, not the actual singers (none of those women are that hawt).

Dan Tyminski, Krauss's guitarist, provides all the vocals for George Clooney in the movie.

Dan Tyminski, Krauss's guitarist, provides all the vocals for George Clooney in the movie.I heard that Clooney was adamant about doing the vocals himself, and it took quite a bit of convincing to get him to realize that he was terrible.

LOL, I almost left that one out because I thought it might be ridiculed, but I thought it fit the theme of a float trip so I included it.
