Ok, after a loss ... it's now time for perspective

I know ... some of you will say "take this to another BB". Or, quit with the sour grapes, admit KC beat Denver.

All of this is true. KC won a great game at Mile High ... you've got Denver where you want them when you look at possibly sweeping them.

Here's the perspective part ... partly b/c it makes me feel better about the rest of Denver's season & it lets you guys know what KC needs to do with their own schedule to maintain the pace.

Denver's remaining schedule:

10/1 Patriots (win)
10/8 @Chargers (win - should be)
10/15 Browns (win)
10/22 @Bengals (win)

bye (should be 6-2 ... 5-3 worst case)

Denver is staring at 10-6 when it's all said and done. Some of those games will be very close and as usual, they'll win a game that they weren't supposed to (hopefully at KC) and they'll lose a game that they should have won (like the Saints).

So, if Oakland keeps improving and fails to falter as in recent years, then KC will have to win 11 games to be considered for the wild card.

Can they do it?

Again - congrats on the win. It was a great game and I have no excuses to hide behind.

Brad, I agree with everything except the last part about KC having to win 11 games to be a wild card. If KC wins at home against Denver & Denver goes 10-6 as you are predicting, then the Chiefs would only need to go 10-6 to win the division because they hold the tie-breaker.

Beating the Browns at home, does not make me think the Raiders are destined for the playoffs, automatically. I would think after what Denver did to them at home, and how San Diego, almost beat them at home, then maybe the Chiefs and Broncs, are the teams they may be chasing in a few weeks. I would have to see their schedule, and I am sure it is easier than the Chiefs, but Oakland always finds a way to lose.

Mizzou ... that's what I was implying. If Denver wins 10 and Oak wins 10 or 11, then KC would *have* to win 11.

All in all, I hope it comes down to KC/Denver.

No I can't stand to say Raiders and playoffs in the same sentence....but assuming the Raiders are the team to beat...

Right now, advantage Denver...they've already beaten the Raiders...that should change in two weeks...when we destroy them...

If KC beats the Hawks and then the Raiders...KC will be 4 and 0 in the Division, Denver, 2 and 1 since they should beat SD and Oakland will have at least two losses in the Division...

So the way I look at it...10 wins should win the west...11 will do it for sure...and whoever can sweep, or at least win most division games will have the advantage...I know that is a pretty obvious statement but IMO, we could have a four way tie at the top come the end of the season....

On Proctor's (KCJohnny) behalf, I think the Chiefs will go 14-2. http://www.ChiefsPlanet.com/ubb/biggrin.gifWe have the tough one against St. Louis in 4 weeks but I TRULY think we can beat them. I don't think the Rams will put up 40 against us!

I'll predict 10-6, but KC's schedule is much tougher than Denver's. Winning on the road in the division is a must for the Chiefs & they need to beat either Buffalo or St Louis at home to have a chance at the division title.

The Chiefs CAN win the division by winning just as many games as either Oakland or Denver if they win out on the tie-breaker situation. Lets say we sweep the Donx (this IS possible) and the Raidas (also possible)and all 3 win 10 or even 9 games - then we win the division. Much to early to even look that far ahead. I'm to buisy gloating over yesterday!

At this point, Mizzou, I think we SHOULD beat the Patriots handily, even on the road. The only games that spook me are Buffalo, St. Louis, @ Oakland, and the 2 against Seattle, because they've had our number recently. The Bills game has the makings of a Mid-season Arrowhead classic, and I like having the Rams outdoors on grass, against the most physical defense they'll face all year.
