Moore ain't playin' around.
He came from the Atlanta Braves, he was around long enough to learn how to build a playoff caliber team... even if said team was a perennial post-season flop.

I'm very surprised that he left Atlanta as he was the heir apparent to the GM slot when Shurholtz retired.

Either way... you have a damn good GM working for the Royals now. I would not be surprised to see them show some remarkable improvement before the end of this season.

He signed a one-year with Boston before the season. I think we just got the same contract since we claimed him off waivers.

I'll take it; keep trading the vets, Dayton.

We traded for the guy who use to sing for Rage Against the Machine?!?! Awesome!!!!!! Bulls on Parade! I just had to say that, since it was the first thing I thought.

I like it.

25 year old pitcher with a live arm who needs work > mid 30s utility player making $2 million.

Not to bash on Graff. He's a solid veteran who can play a lot of positions. There's a reason why two teams in the hunt have wanted him two years in a row.

Looks pretty good on the surface. I guess De La Rosa is someone with electric stuff, but control problems. He's been pitching down in AAA the last month or so, and there he's pitched 6 games, 30 innings, 3-1 record, 2.40 ERA, 1 HR, 3 BB, 23 K. Looks like his control has been much better in the minors... and they traded him to us for Tony Graffanino. Interesting.

Maybe Moore can get something for some of the other bums on the team.......Matt Stairs this means you.

I would think Stairs has at least a little value as a left-handed bat coming off the bench.

I like that Moore is stockpiling young arms.

Better hurry up and trade Redman before he uses tonight's game to kill any potential interest teams might have.

Stairs hasnt been worth a roster spot since 2003 when he hit 20 HR's and batted .292

KC is looking good for the future though.

Yeah, I screwed that up. The article I read said he was pitching for AAA Nashville. According to minorleaguebaseball.com... he's been in AA. He's on a rehab assignment for a blister problem, and the Brewers had to make a decision on him this week. Either way, hopefully he can continue to keep the walks down... his major league numbers really look pretty similar... lots of K's, not many HR's at all, but he just walks a lot of people.

Also haven't you noticed most of the prospects we are getting from the Southern League?

How many would truly believe he was the best GM if we did indeed get a six pack of pabst for Berroa?

If you've noticed, the majority of the guys we've gotten this week have sick K/BB ratios.

I'd definately digging DM's style already.

They also all seem to be able to throw more than one pitch. Dayton has mentioned a couple times about how a guy will have two or three quality pitches. Seems like a lot of the pitchers we're bringing in have multiple quality pitches. Not just young guys who can throw gas and need to develop something else.

Plus he said he liked Hochevar the best of all the pitchers in the draft... and Hochevar was the one said to have the best assortment of quality pitches. Maybe not quite as nasty as Andrew Miller's two pitches, but he has three or four good pitches to mix it up. Seems to be a pattern I've noticed. That would bode well for guys like Greinke and Runelvys, if they can get it together.

I think Dayton is going to take a really good approach to building our pitching staff... I guess that might be obvious since he came from maybe the single best organization when it comes to pitching. I love it.... when you hear him talk, he's just so "common sense" about stuff, we need that. Especially in talking about getting guys who not only have good stuff, but "repeatable deliveries", i.e. they won't be hurt all the time.
