SAN ANTONIO -- Bill Self has confirmed that Kansas reserve guard Rodrick Stewart fractured his kneecap after slipping on a wet spot during the Jayhawks' open practice Friday at the Alamodome.
"Obviously he is out," said Self. "He'll have surgery when he gets back to Lawrence. So, not a great start to our day."
Stewart crumpled to the court after leaping to attempt a dunk near the end of 50-minute workout. As Stewart pounded the court, Self and trainers rushed to his side.
Stewart's leg was wrapped in a brace, and the festive crowd grew quiet as he was taken off the court on a golf cart.
Stewart, a 6-4 senior from Seattle, provides depth off the bench, averaging 2.8 points and 11.6 minutes per game.
The Associated Press contributed to this report.

Talk about unlucky... I feel sorry for the guy. Final fours don't happen that often in one's college career. You want to be around to play when they do happen.

Sucks for him.

As for the rest of KU fans good thing he doesn't much.

Eh, you never know. Lately Case and Reed have came off the bench more than him.

Dude, I was actually thinking about this a couple days ago...

I feel bad, but I thought, you know, someone needs to hurt their knee to help us create the same aura as 1988... Didn't Archie Marshall injure his knee and had to fight back from that or something?

Now our karma is complete... we must beat ROY!

And we have a player with father on the bench.

Why?

because Kaun has been MVP this march

This is horrible news, not from a standpoint of winning or losing the game but for Rodrick. He was a highly touted player who went to USC, was then overshadowed by his brother Lodrick. Never played well there, then transferred to KU and was sparsley used until this year where he was the epitome of a team player and then right before the biggest game of his life he fractures his knee cap.

There is no karma. My heart goes out to this kid, but I hope he knows how much all KU fans cherish his hard work in practice pushing the other guys to get better everyday.

we wouldn't be in the final 4 if it weren't for Kaun, so in my book that's MVP

Dude. I'm not a KU homer or a fan of any way, but Kaun did save KU's season against Davidson.

Your obsession of him that he sucks, is way off base. Let it go.

Kaun was the only one who could handle those little Davidson bastards.

Why?

Are you serious? Depth is one HUGE thing we have against Hansbrough and his foul-drawing tactics. We need all the big bodies out there.

Come on...

Yeah, Lodrick is his name. I don't proof read my posts. It's a message board.
