My now 16 year old was 14 when we got custody. One night at about 3:00 AM a cop is beating down my door. He said - you know where your daughter is? I said she's upstairs sleeping. Heh. Uh - no.
She took the keys, a twelver of my diet coke and set out for the long trek to Virginia back to her mother's. She got to Sedalia - 50 miles before she got pulled over because she couldn't drive worth a crap. Copper thought he got him a DUI.
Brynn Marie and I want and picked her up - got back to KC just in time for school. I made her go too. Heh.

I ran away when I was 16. Let this be a testament to how much I love the game of football....
My parents are incredibly religious - enough so that they attend church on Friday nights.... the night high school football is played. Therefore, I wasn't allowed to play football - that and because dad knew a guy who tore up his knee one time. Heh.
So when they wouldn't let me join the team, I left. Really. There's a whole lot more to the story but it's much better in person. I lived with my best friend and his drunken mother until I almost flunked out of school at which point my track coach and his wife took me in until I graduated.
