Granted the game was in College Station, but this same A&M team took Clemson to the wire before falling short.

Bama's in their own universe.

Today's games suck.

Mostly lopsided games which aren't fun to watch. Also, there don't seem to be many marquee players that I absolutely want to watch.

All football except for the Chiefs sucks now. Once you watch our offense nothing else will scratch that itch.

Isn't that every year though? I mean at what point will this not be the case? 2030?

Sometime they lose 1 game and the NCAA still puts them in the playoff anyway

So the other day I heard Trent Dilfer say that Tua whatshisname from Alabama is going to be the greatest QB ever and he's the best he's ever been around etc etc etc.

Basically saying he'd never lose a game in college, be the #1 pick, and go on to have a HOF type career.

What's everyones view on that?

Fair point...I was being hyperbolic. Given the fact that Alabama has been the 'class' of the nation for so long, let's run down the HOF QB's they've produced in the recent years...

Brodie Croyle, AJ McCarron, Blake Sims, Jake Coker, Blake Barnett...it's a regular who's who of NFL talent.

Sounds pretty hot takish. Filter himself has said in the past that it is difficult to identify something measurable that makes QBs succeed vs fail.

I’d say that is exponentially more difficult with a true sophomore.

I imagine Trent believes that he’s going to be really good but it sounds like a hot take to me.

Yep. Kelly announced he was transferring right after Lawrence got the job.

Now Lawrence was scrambling on a 3rd and long and pulled a Garrapalo, trying to stay in bounds and pick up extra yardage by diving head first. He got creamed and his head hit the defender's shoulder pads flush. It looked pretty bad. He might have actually been out cold for a bit.

On the road against a top tier team in a hostile environment. If they're championship caliber tOSU will find a way to win it and that's what good teams do. Not scoring 35 in the first half every game doesn't mean their O sucks.

Penn state is clearly outplaying osu. Urban Meyer isn't dropping passes.

But the offensive playcalling is contributing to it. It's not even close to what Ryan day was running in urbans absence. Conservative as hell, slow plodding rpo, predictable dink and dunk... Vintage urban Meyer. When the DL is dominating urban has to stop with the slow as molasses rpo when you have a qb like this. But urban is so stuck on this offense that he never adjusts out of it.

List the team's they played when urban was out.

I would argue urban won a national title a few years ago because Cardale was new and they were trying to figure out how to use him. Tom Hermans offense used Cardale strengths as a pocket passer. Herman left... Urban pigeonholes Cardale into an rpo that is horribly suited for him. I don't love it with haskins either. If urban wants to throw the backup Tate Martell to run this offense... Ok... He's actually mobile enough to do it. But doing it with haskins despite how we're seeing psu defend it... That's a signature of a coach trying to force a qb into a scheme instead of adjusting the scheme to the qb.

Hit him with his shoulder pad on his way to the ground. It's textbook targeting. One of those CTE rules. At least the NCAA is consistent. In the NFL, it would depend on the team/player if it was called or not.

It was a duplicate of the Cardale era. Urban Meyer has no idea how to scheme for a pocket qb. Half of those plays were a slow plodding rpo which is totally worthless when your qb is zero threat to run.

This offense tonight was signature Alex Smith. Which is signature urban Meyer. Everything about it. When you run every play sideways or a slow plodding rpo, the defense is going to attack you and shut off the short stuff. Did that offensive scheme not look exactly like the Chiefs offense from 2 years ago?

I don't mind an ugly win. I just hate seeing the same warts. At this point, just start Tate Martell. If you're going to run zone read no matter the qb, go with the lesser qb who fits the system. Running the offense osu did with an immobile qb is fitting a square peg into a round hole.
