I'm excited! But the NFL can't let their guard down. I always expected there to be a lull (due to seasonality that exists in cold and flu) but this is where we need to remain the most cognizant. Keep protocols in place. No locker rooms. Zoom meetings and X's and O's. Separate the units when ever possible. I can't really think of a good reason the defense ever should come within 6 feet of the offense. Not ideal, but I want this season to go on and possibly get all games in.

Well, I'll tell you one thing, they got faster, and after being blown out by Kansas City that was part of their plan. They're also going to feature throwing to tight ends more so I hope the Chiefs are ready for that. I don't know how good they're going to be, but I do know that the offense is going to be different and there's no film on it yet, so I suspect it to be effective early.

On defense, no question they slipped.

Having said that, I think the Chiefs win something like 38 to 28. Going to be very different playing in an almost empty Stadium.

I think a lot about the players in the tunnels and hallways in Miami’s Hard Rock Stadium after the Chiefs won the Super Bowl in February. There was a lot of fun but also a matter-of-factness that surprised me, given that the Chiefs had erased a double-digit lead to beat the 49ers. It was a joyous feeling, but there was also a collective calm, because there was a sense that Mahomes, surrounded by the Chiefs’ talent and schemes, was inevitable. This is a player whose passer rating on third down is nearly 28 points higher than the league average. His adjusted yards per attempt is a full yard higher than that of any other quarterback in history. The reason I think about those hallway scenes in that stadium is not just because of how amazing the game was, or how amazing Mahomes was. It is because of how normal everything felt. Nothing will feel normal Thursday. It might not for many more months. But one part of that night is back. It’s Mahomes. He’s inevitable.
