So imagine you're on the road with the league's best pass rush, going against a gimpy quarterback pushing 40 who wears a neck halo brace and is the sole talent on the opposing team. And then imagine you have a home game against Gimpy McNieck in just two weeks.

I'm not saying we should do this, and I don't think I want to do this, but I could see the following as a strategy. You just send guys on every play, go single man coverage, and hit hit hit the gimp. You go vanilla and don't show anything play-wise. You know you'll give up some plays and you might even lose, but if you beat the daylights out of this guy it'll slow him down for weeks. He's old and frail. And then in two weeks you're at home, you've got their film and they've got nothing on you, and you're facing an even gimpier and more beat-up quarterback.

Interesting.

They'd have to be completely sure they were going to win the next one though. And they'd have to be sure that the plan to hobble manning works.
