dude, I know you like to finesse point your points and others. I get it, its your way. Not saying its a bad thing.
You have to update software to vulnerabilities. At some point you have to get the fix, code whatever from the manufacture. Even if its a straight DVD line of possesion from the manufacture to where the DVD goes into the tray, there can still be malware put in the code thats loaded.
The Chinese loaded code in the Cisco routers at the factory. Went undetected. Stole every single nuclear secret we had from ever. Stayed on the network for over 2 years. All the diagrams, plans for nuclear war, capabilities, who we have shared the tech with..... every damn thing.
That wouldn't happen now, the Security infrastructure is more complex and detects every single thing that moves at any time. But, there is always the next thing that you are not prepared to defend.
