My oldest Son graduated college last year and asked if he could live with us for 1 year to save money to buy a house. Sure thing. Well, one year is coming up in a couple of months and I wish it wasn’t. We are not only Father and Son, but really good friends. I’ll miss having him around everyday 
My youngest is turning 21 this weekend and invited me to come celebrate with him Saturday night. I can assure you, that request NEVER went out to my Father on my 21st  I’m looking forward to it, kinda
Point is, it goes by so fast. Enjoy all of it. If your relationship with your kids is solid and the rules are in place when they are young, then it will morph into more of an amazing friendship when they become adults as well. The journey is awesome, so soak it all up! |
Great post. I feel my 2 sons and I have developed into more than father and son but also great friends. It is pretty cool to move into that part of life and relationships. My middle one had to move back home last Fall after things didn't work out with his new wife. But the good thing is that we see him way more than ever before when he was with this women since high school. I will be glad when he moves out (in a couple of months, hopefully) but I will also miss having him around all the time.
