But I do know a little about how a substance can seem innocuous for years, in my case it was craft beers, and its effects over time. As well as other people I've known that had similar experiences with other foods/substances in their own lives. Sometimes you think you know what's happening, but then find out much later that those effects were actually cumulative, not discrete.
And I don't think you get just how difficult it is to do what he did yesterday.
To stand up in front of a bunch of people, reporters in fact, and admit what he did and take full responsibility for it, in front of cameras no less, is not an easy thing. It had to be pretty hard for someone as prideful as any NFL player, much less Frank. That takes a certain amount of guts, and a person has to be comfortable with themselves to do it as well as he did.
And then there's the fact that he just looks leaner and in better health than he ever has as a Chief, and even seems clearer-eyed than I've ever seen him in a presser.
But the fact remains that he lost even me last season, so it is going to take an incredible series of performances this season for me to buy back into the Shark. But he does at least appear to be on the right track, so I feel like there's a glimmer of hope there.
