There was plenty of coverage about it after the Chiefs game, too (I posted ~10 articles earlier).... a ton of people hated the Patriots at the time and called out the rule due to that alone.
Also, you can call east coast bias, NFL wanted the Patriots to win anyway... AND not be about the Chiefs and screwing the Chiefs.

Yeah my issue at the time was just that I don't understand the sympathy for the Bills when the Chiefs themselves tried to fix it and they weren't supported. I was, as SNR said, partially motivated by that tweet that I thought meant the Bills voted against it.
All I know is the rule was a joke and should have always been both teams get the ball. I along with many have felt that way for a while.
