And besides, the QB Sneak/Tush Push is allowed to have some downside to it as well. It isn’t just a flawless play.
If you convert with it, you’re likely going to just barely get it. However, you will pretty consistently get it.
That said, you’re betting the game that the ref will 1) agree that forward progress wasn’t stopped early and 2) actually be able to see the ball.
If you get a shit spot, good luck. That cluster **** of a play will rarely give you clear angles to challenge.
If you have Josh Allen and take your chances with that play (instead of some other play), then you have to take the negative with the positive.
Andy Reid sure seemed to have plenty of success picking up critical first downs by getting Mahomes out of the pocket with multiple options. Instead of blaming the refs for maybe misspotting the ball by 6 inches, let’s look at McDermott first.
