warren was the 13th overall pick in 2003. can't seem to find any contract details other than the extension he signed, but you can deduce that it was likely for cheaper than seymour's contract (drafted lower), and a year or two less. so, likely 5 years, 12 million would be a reasonable guess.
seymour was the sixth overall pick in 2001. his contract, according to wiki, was 6-years, $14.3 million contract.
let's compare... dorsey: 5 years, 51 million dollars. seymour AND warren COMBINED had roughly 26 million in rookie contract dollars
the nature of the beast in today's nfl is that top five rookies make way too much coin. you certainly don't move them to positions that they've never played before and risk busting out on your HUGE investment. to move dorsey solely to the 3-4 DE is patently absurd. can he play 3-4 DE as a gimmick look? sure, why not. but as ONLY a 3-4 de? that's just plain stupid. and one thing we know, scott pioli is not stupid.
