I'm asking you to justify why Memphis should get a 1 over UConn. I can make very easy arguments for UConn.
Coming into that 6 overtime game against Syracuse, Connecticut had lost exactly
one game this year against a team other than Pittsburgh: 27-1. They have about
three times as many wins
on the road/at neutral sites over tournament teams than Memphis has total wins over tournament teams.

Tennessee and Gonzaga are fine wins, but they're probably not going to get higher than a 5 or 6 seed tops and UAB's not making the tournament. Those are resume-padders, but they aren't the basis for a team arguing to be a 1 seed.
On the road alone UConn went 13-1 with wins:
@ Louisville by about 20
@ Marquette
@ West Virginia
@ Gonzaga
@ Notre Dame, snapping their 44 game home winning streak
@ Cincinnati(who beat UAB)
And they hammered Wisconsin and Miami on a neutral court.
Plus home wins over the likes of Villanova, Syracuse, and Michigan.

Do you understand what you're calling a 'skid'? Every team in the country experienced much worse than a loss @Pittsburgh followed by a 6 overtime loss to a team like Syracuse at some point. Using that as justification for looking past the whole body of work UConn put forward is inane.

How do you figure, particularly if we end up in UNC's bracket?
I don't even see much daylight between UConn's resume and Carolina's.
