I'm sure people will take that as a "crossing fingers" moment, claiming I've wanted a QB all along, and trading for Cassel threw a wrench into that.
Personally, I'm not sure how anyone can say with any certainty that Pioli WOULDN'T take a QB at #3 - nothing he does on the weekend of the 25th would surprise me.
If Cassel was signed to a long-term deal, there wouldn't be this speculation.
The questions you have to ask yourself:
Is Cassel not signed because Pioli wants some flexibility on draft day?
Is Cassel not signed because Pioli views him as a stop-gap until Stafford/Sanchez is ready to start?
Is Cassel not signed as a smokescreen to make other teams think we're in the mix for Stafford/Sanchez?
