Your kidding right? The US Marines were involved in the July 7, 1937 Marco Polo bridge incident that started the war. Our Gunboats were repeatedly attacked and 1 even sunk by the Japanese, resulting in the death of several Marines. Our troops were also strafed by the Japanese air force & Several US Marines were also killed/captured in the bridge incident.
Not sure what a "real" reason would be to declare war, but the unprovoked attack, killing & capture of US soldiers & civilians seems pretty good to me.
Again, only because they involved Asians, were we not willing to get involved. Roosevelt admitted he "
overlooked" Japans aggression only because
he wanted to fight the Germans.
