But lets call a spade a spade, that draft was about trying to make Matt Cassel look like he's not an epic **** up, Get him a guy to run little routes even though teams will sit on it mixed with a returner to give him field position since he can't lead drives because he throws it 3 yards.
Personally it makes my day to know we have to draft players because our GM doesn't want to look stupid for trading for an inept QB.

ALL OF THIS.
It's one thing to give your QB some weapons and protection, its a completely different thing when you spend as many high draft picks as we did to make up for horrible QB play.
Looking at all of the players we added to make Cassel look better: Lilja, Weigman, Jones, DMC, Arenas (the returner), Asamoah, Moeaki.
Looking at the players we added to improve against the run: Shaun Smith
Looking at the players we added to improve our pass rush: Sheffield
Yeah that is an oversimplification/stretch of the facts, but you get the point.
