Richard Smith Signed to Practice Squad

Chiefs Sign WR Richard Smith to Practice Squad

Sep 30, 2004, 10:10:21 AM

Kansas City Chiefs President Carl Peterson announced on Thursday that the club had signed WR Richard Smith to the club’s developmental squad. To make room for Smith the Chiefs released WR John Booth from the practice squad.

Smith (5-10, 191) has appeared in three games for the Chiefs in 2004 after entering the NFL as a rookie free agent. Smith enjoyed a successful two-sport career at Arkansas where he appeared in 49 games (35 starts) for the football team and earned two All-America selections with the Razorbacks track and field team. Smith finished his career with 135 receptions for 1,858 yards and 17 TDs, while finishing seventh in the triple jump and eighth in the long jump at the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships. As a senior at Evangel Christian High School in Shreveport, Louisiana, Smith caught 84 passes for 1,700 yards and 20 TDs and placed second in the state triple jump and long jump.
Booth (6-0, 196) spent the first three weeks of the 2004 season on the Chiefs practice squad. As a collegiate quarterback at Mid-American Nazarene University in Olathe, Kansas, Booth played in 35 games. He completed 284 of 534 passes for 4,250 yards with 42 touchdowns and 16 interceptions for a 140.0 QB rating. He added 465 carries for 3,037 yards with 35 TDs and three receptions for 38 yards. The Miami, Florida native was selected as the Heart of America Athletic Conference Most Valuable player and was a first-team all-conference choice as a senior. Booth prepped at Manatee High School in Bradenton, Florida.

Makes sense,,,,,,,He had to clear waivers, then the chiefs got him back! Gave them some time to think about things,,,,,besides,,,I was pretty confident nobody else was going to sign him,,,,,because its logical for other teams to think "if the chiefs dropped him, with the condition of their WR's, he must be BAD!(ha)

No he didn't the guy was a twit. This was an easy call. The only other possibility was to place Parker on IR and its not to that point yet.

When I first read this, I thought you said socks. I was thinking that this guy is bragging about being able to predict the date of a certainty better than he can pick two socks that not only match by don't clash with his pants.
