I'm all for honoring Lamar, and I hope the Chargers do something very nice before the game and/or at halftime.

But changing the words of the Star Spangled Banner is disrespectful regardless of the intent.

You can't remove a word, "the" and replace it with a two syllable word 'cause the crowd will say, "the" before they say "Lamar"

Now, if you can get the crowd to say, "...and the home of Lamar!" Well, good luck to you, but it would still sound dumb 'cause it only works when you add the word, "the" like you do when we say, "...and the home of the Chiefs!"

That makes absolutely no sense at all. If you can get them to change the words at all, there's no significant difference between getting them to replace one word or two. Saying "the Lamar" doesn't even make sense.
