Trader Joes

Anybody been there? $2.00 bottles of wine, which has recently beat out a 100.00 dollar bottle Ruffino contest entry. Other gourmet goodies as well, such as pepper corned hard salami, cheeses, organics, chocolates, coffees etc.

There is a Trader Joe's on damn near every street corner in my neck of the woods. They're all busy. They're just that damn good.

2 Buck Chuck is cheap. It is equivalent to a $6 Safeway wine. Far better than Nightrain and Mad Dog. However, it is not good.

If you are going to drink wine then spend the $15+ for a good bottle and enjoy it. Otherwise, drink beer.

Rockin' their Tom Yum Cashews. Yep as good you would imagine. Cashews coated with Tom Yum Spices, Lemon Grass, Thai Lime, Onion, Garlic, Red Pepper and Fish Sauce. Sweet, savory and hot all at once.

The lack of a Trader Joe's in the KC area is perhaps the city's biggest flaw apart from the murder rate.

We have both Trader Joe's and Aldi's. TJ is awesome, sort of like Whole Foods but not as expensive. Aldi's is great for cheap shit.

Not a 2 buck chuck fan, but I think you can fine some damn good wine at Safeway for $10 or less. BV cabernet for $7-$8 bucks is damn good if you ask me. Also the Bogle is $10 or $11 bucks.

There's a 'facebook' group that used to regularly ask it's members to contact TJ's to open a store in KC. The chain indicated some interest, per a blurb in the KC Star - they went so far as to mention the 135th and state line area as a potential location (MO store = wine sales. Thank you Carrie Nation and your POS liquor laws in Kansas). But - the group indicated that TJ's don't think the distributor that currently serves St. Louis can also service KC, and they're looking at creating a new 'hub'. That puts us on the back burner. Soon, but not now. It's a damn shame.
