What's a satisfactory season for DJ? - Page 2

Watching one of GC's videos just gets me thinking once again how talented DJ is but he hasn't really put it altogether for that "wow" season where the entire NFL takes notice and praises DJ for the elite player he could be.

I guess my answer is that it depends on the scheme. Is he going to blitz much? Cover the TEs?

Overall, he needs to make big plays more consistently, really change the game with an INT or turnover deep in the opponents' territory, etc. I can't put a number on how many tackles, INTs, sacks he should have because I need to see how he'll be used.

He's never going to be a weak link on the defense. What he needs to be, IMO, is one of the strongest links along with Hali and Allen.

If he doesn't break at least 4 QB's or RB's necks then I'd consider cutting him right after game 16. I also expect him to mount atleast one opposing offensive player's wife each week and video tape it so it can be played over the video boards during the opposing teams 1st offensive series. Anything less and the guy is gar-bage

Jason King, of the Kansas City Star, reports Kansas City Chiefs LB Derrick Johnson is looking to have a breakout season after being slowed by injury in 2006. "The third year is supposed to be the charm," Johnson said. "If I can stay healthy, I'll pass all the tests with flying colors." "I've got the ability," Johnson added. "I've got the most talent of any linebacker in the league…I think I've improved the mental aspects of my game as far as knowing where to go and knowing the strengths and weaknesses of our opponent."

I like his attitude for the most part but I'm not so sure that he so clearly has to state "I've got the most talent of any linebacker in the league".

He needs to make plays at key times. Stop some 3rd down conversions. Break up passes or force fumbles when other teams are moving the chains to go in the lead, etc.

Scheme or no scheme...DJ has the intangibles to be a good linebacker.

I say they blitz him more and more....He has the speed to get to the QB.

His tackling skills need to improve.

Im confident he can play both man and zone, and will be an effective cover guy.

I really don't know what a satisfactory season would be for him, I just hope he can stay healthy.
