You know what your Kids' teacher is "teaching" your children?

I had teachers who did worse than that. In second grade, the teacher was verbally and physically abusive. I told my parents what the prick did, but they didn't believe me. "A teacher wouldn't slam a boy's head against the chalkboard..." they said. Well, let's see... he ran up to Jerry, shoved him in the face and the back of his head hit the chalkboard, and I was right there to see it. He hit me on the back of my elbow with his class ring once, but again... no way a teacher would do that. In fourth grade, the teacher was verbally abusive, but once again, the folks didn't believe me. So, realizing I was on my own, I took vengeance on dear Mrs. Reynolds when I could. Although I was but nine and ten in her class, my subtle psychological attacks drained her as the year went on. I take pride in knowing that her facial tics were at least in part set upon her by me.

One particular memory of mine was when I answered a question, correctly, but I forgot to raise my hand first. That teacher basically called me stupid that I couldn't remember to raise my hand in front of the whole class. Then that bitch sent me to the office and said I was being disruptive. I was in 4th grade. I think there are great teachers out there, but there are bad ones and probably a lot of them.

No doubt. My 4th grade teacher would hit me with yardsticks, rulers, and books. All because she did not like the fact that I would not bring an english - spanish dictionary to school because we were poor and I was already bilingual.

I corrected her in class once and that set her off.

She scared me so badly that every day before school I would puke my guts out and beg my mom to take me home.

Eventually, I was transfered to another school and she was fired. She then tried to sue my mom saying that my mom had caused her irreprable damage to both her career and her health. That suit was tossed out on its ear.

Now... as someone who works on a daily basis in the class room, I have to say that I have not had or seen anything like that happen in one of my classrooms from my teachers. Subs are another thing though. I have yet to go into a room with a sub who was even half way competent at their job.

One even had me take over the class for about 2 hours and sat at the teachers desk. I was furious but let it go at the time because the kids were more important than going upside the sub.

I reported her though... have not seen her back at that school since.

With the demand for teachers growing...we will only see more of these scumbags getting into the classrooms.

When I was growing up my mom taught in the same small town school system that I went to. During my school years I thought this sucked....looking back on it she probably kept me from running to much amock!

I have 2 boys (ages 5&6) and even thought I am not teaching at their school, I make it a point to talk with their teachers 3-4 times a week just to make sure I know what is going on.

I had an eighth grade teacher that was a real bitch. Once she dozed off during the quietness of an exam. I instigated two others to throw huge spitwads at the chalk board. it was covered when we accidentally woke her up with a golfball sized spitwad to the head. Got in trouble, but looking back, it was worth it.
