Top 10: Regrettable NFL Offseason Decisions

No.1 - Kansas City Chiefs trade for Matt Cassel

A silent alarm should have sounded for the Chiefs when the New England Patriots sold off “franchise” Matt Cassel for such a cheap price. Getting good value from Bill Belichick is like getting a good deal from a greasy used-car salesman: you’re lucky if you get what you pay for.

Cassel looked shiny and nice while he was on Belichick’s lot, but so have many players. Belichick makes his squad into overachievers and then sells high, only to see his parts fail elsewhere. See: Deion Branch, David Givens and Ty Law.

The Chiefs also signed Cassel to the richest contract in franchise history before he even played a snap, which may have been premature. A simple six-month test drive wouldn’t have hurt.

He has ”bust” written all over him and his early struggles in training camp are just the early evidence that the Chiefs got a lemon.

Brandon Lloyd is talented. He is just a locker room cancer and a blowhard. Nobody likes him.

While Babin has had a few plays that some might consider "dirty," I don't think anyone calls him that, a "cancer."

This comparison really outs you for the football invalid you really are. Lloyd came to the NFL ready to play. Babin did not. Babin worked hard and never quit. Babin got better.

Letting Babin go in 2009 was one of THE DUMBEST MOVES in Chiefs history...

and only those who want the Chiefs to SUCK cheer it...

It was not one of the biggest mistakes in franchise history, that's ridiculous. It was a mistake, but going to that extreme just eviscerates your credibility.

I'm beginning to think that Bill B and others set up dunces as "experts" only to have the Clark Hunts of the world hire them to wreck other franchises...

Really?

Three years later, we kinda sorta have somewhat of a good "other" (non Hali) pass rusher...

Get real.

Babin and Hali would've been too much for just about any OL...

And if "your analysis" is that he "showed jack and shit here," then hopefully you are not Pioli's replacement...
You reerun.

I was wrong he wasn't cut by Philly he was cut by Seattle after leaving KC. before Philly. Its the same ****ing point moron. Philly and Tennessee were fighting over him so he went to Seattle? Who lies?
He played in 12 games registered 16 tackles and 2.5 sacks in 2009 with Philly, 2 full seasons after leaving KC. Yea he was lighting it up.

Yes KC should have known after the 2008 season that 2 full years later after getting cut in Seattle and having a non impact season ion Philly Babin would start playing completely contrary to his previous production.
