Grade Pre-season Game #3

I give this one a D....worst game of the pre-season so far. Pass coverage has got to tighten up....pass rush...well, we are still wondering what that looks like....

1 of 10 on 3rd downs I do believe....not going to cut it

Sure. Until his hamstrings bother him or until he fumbles multiple times.

Sorry dude, I know he's from your state and all but I'm not sold on him.

He's going to have to prove that he can hang onto the ball and be consistent before I start lumping him in with the Champion.

I didn't see him fumbling tonight.

Admittedly, it's a problem.

But the way we ran the ball last year, and had been running it this year, tonight was a positive in my eyes.

Actually, it has more to do with the line than the backs. They were getting push, and the running game was varied - they had success going outside.

Grading the only part of the game that really mattered, that being the first half, then I'd call it a C. There were some positives: Charles and LJ combined for nearly 100 yards rushing at around 6.5 yards a pop in the first half; Bowe looks primed to have a great year (3 catches for 38 yards); the run defense held Seattle under 4 yards/carry, pressured and sacked Hasselbeck and had a score.

On the flip side, of course, Cassel went down early, and the defense gave up 150 yards passing, but that doesn't exactly surprise me when their best coverage linebacker, best coverage safety and best cornerback are all on the sideline. And despite all that, they did only give up 7 points.

The game got ugly in the second half, but I couldn't care less about that. The first team was competitive, with some of their best players on the sideline. So what if the scrubs lost the JV half of the game.

And I think the Chiefs offense probably scores in the first half if Croyle or even Gutierrez's in the game instead of weeble-wobble. He was just awful. Which isn't exactly unexpected to those of us who don't wear Thigpen underoos.
cosign

there were a few improvements lost in the thigpen/pollard suck off....we ran the ball well in the first, flowers of course, dl is better than last year by a lot even with a hole at nt...

tyson jackson already looks like a man out there, several excellent plays...my concern for him stamina, within the game and in the season..if he hits a wall late in the season our defense falls off a cliff

our backups, all of them, at every position, with the exception of leggett, are terrible...we are so talent deprived it is mind blowing...thanks herm!

and really, playing with thigpen made it all damn near pointless...he is one of the worst qbs on any roster in the league..all we could do is hand it off...thigpen couldn't even throw a 3 yard pass on a roll out
