Apparently not, as the Soviets did in fact invade Poland

" At the time the Red Army crossed the Soviet-Polish border, in the early hours of 17 September 1939, the Soviets had concentrated an impressive force"

"The morning of 17 September 1939 saw the Red Air Force launch surprise attacks on the airfields of Dubno, Luck and Kowel, where they claimed 7 fighters and 3 bombers destroyed on the ground. The Polish planes of the Pursuit Brigade, that managed to get off the ground fought back with a vengeance, though, and claimed to have downed two SB-2 bombers as well as 5 I-16 fighters. '

I'm 20 pages into what promises to have some great WW2 stories & insights, 'About Face' by Col. David Hackworth.

This guy was the second gen Audie Murphy, he prolly had to put medals on the back of his class A's. Havent gotten into the 2 stories yet, it starts out with him in the Korean war. Cant wait to get deeper into it.

Those old timers have forgotten more than most of us will ever know.

Great book. If you want some more great WW2 stories (the book is just a huge collection of interviews) try Studs Terkel's "The Good War". It's fantastic.

Come to think of it Adept, there prolly wont be a lot of WW2 stories in About Face, since he joined at the end of it & was with the occupying forces.

But i'm still looking forward to it...Korea, Vietnam, doesnt matter, this guy was an azz kicker at all times.
