Yet another Suh draft thread...

OK, playing around with the numbers.... it looks like there is still a slight chance that we could get the #2 overall pick behind St Louis... I have to assume that they are going to go QB... which would leave Suh to us.

Now, that leaves a bit of a dilemna...

1) We obviously would have to move back to a 4-3... Suh is the kind of player you do whatvere it takes and fire whoever needs to be fired to best utilize him...

2) Our D-Line would then have the overall #3 from 2009, #5 from 2008, #2 from 2010 and #20 from 2006 picks on it...

That obviously is a hell of a lot of investment in just the d-line AND it also assumes that Tyson Jackson can play 4-3 DE AND it doesn't leave us with much pass rush from either DE... but I am willing to say that past/present coaching may have something to do with our past lack of pressure...

SOOO the question is... you just can't passs on Suh... but also how could we afford to get him at this point... are we past the point of no return?

I said it toward the beginning of the season, he is the best college player I have seen from any position during my lifetime except for Peyton. You CANT pass on a player like him if he is on the board when you are on the clock.

He will be Reggie White. His defense will win Championships. His presence would let our QB sleep better at night because of how much less will be on his shoulders. He would make Tamba a probowler.

WE JUST GAVE UP 286 YARDS RUSHING AT HOME TO A ****ING 3RD STRING RB FROM A 2 WIN TEAM! We NEED a SUH!

I also say it is foolish/misinformed to say that we would have to change to a 4-3 to draft him. We would have to tweak the scheme to a gap penetrating one where the nose is used similarly to how Dallas uses theirs to accommodate for Dorseys strengths. THAT IS BASICALLY WHAT DORSEY WAS DRAFTED FOR. He went so high because he could be in the a gap before the olinemen got set up. THATS WHAT HE WOULD BE DOING. This is why I have mentioned Wade Phillips so much in my thoughts about our possibilities for our DC position. His defense keyed by Dorsey and SUH would definitely be CHAMPIONSHIP calibur!

...SUH Dorsey Jackson

Add a couple more linebackers and THAT defense is SET for some time to come and will consistently get better and grow together for the next 10 years..Fix the oline and receivers with the rest of FA/draft and we could be MUCH improved next year even with SUH going through rookie pains.

Suh could be the rare type of 3-4 end that can average 7-9 sacks per year and shut down the run to his side almost single-handedly.

As some are saying, he transcends the position.

THIS X100000000000000000000
dude, dorsey is NOT a nose tackle. that would completely neutralize his talents.

Suh would do just fine at NT in this base D. Even then, in this league nowadays more than 50% of your snaps come in something other than a base package. He'd fit in perfect as an interior rusher in sub packages. Remember Sean Rogers didn't play nose tackle until he went to cleveland. Jay Ratliff never played nose tackle until Dallas, and he's a load smaller than Suh and nowhere near as powerful.

He'd be fine in this D.

Dallas plays a different style of 3-4.

They are a penetrating, one gap 3-4.

NE guys run a two gap 3-4.

Suh would be great in a place like Dallas, but we'll use him like Vince Wilfork.

Exactly he'll be a great ILB in the 3-4. We better draft him.

If Suh is there, and the Chiefs don't draft him, I wouldn't be disappointed.

The draft doesn't assure any guarantees imo. Im happy with 3-4 scheme, I just don't think they have the personnel to run it. Although I do think there are plenty of players available in this draft that could help run a 3-4 defense effectively. so its not the end of the world if the Chiefs don't draft Suh. Just gotta find the right guys that could help run your defense. Its here and might as well stick with it rather then changing schemes again.

They went from 4-3 to 3-4 and I dont want to see them go back to 4-3. Let the players learn this scheme rather then change and learn and have to adjust to another scheme. Finding the right guys for a 3-4 and having our current personnel adapt to this scheme is what Id rather see. And that only happens if they stick and carry out their plan.

This is all true. Very nice. Technically speaking Dallas is more of a gap and a half style but I'll give it to you anyway.

Cool, lets draft 3 DT's in the first round in a row. This is almost similar to the Lions drafting WR in all those drafts.

I've resigned myself to the fact that our 3-4 scheme makes drafting Suh unlikely. I'm on board with Eric Berry or Rolando McClain.

didn't consider that... Suh, Dorsey, Jackson in a Dallas style 3-4 would work pretty well.. hell of alot invested in the d-line though

..and of course, we don't have the staff to coach the players we have anyway, so it's a moot point.

It'd be an intriguing experiment.

Talk about force-revamping your defense.

I would pray for this scenario to unfold. If Suh is available at our draft position, some team will be willing to trade up to get him from us.

If only Pioli and Haley would have took the advise from CP and stuck with the 4-3........

Suh and Dorsey playing next to each other inside is the stuff that dreams are made of. **** **** ****
