Yo, Mr. Bwana, need your advice...

I am looking to get 2 firearms, 1 for CCW and another for an assault type shotgun.

For the CCW I am thinking a .380. What is a good one that won't break me but won't **** up when I need it?

For the shotgun, what do you reccomend that is reasonable on the pocket book?

Thanks in advance

Just wondering whether the desire to have guns fits the need to have them. Im not a hippy or anything, I guess I don't understand the need for a suped up auto-shotty? Are you expecting some army to target you and, if need be, you can go all Chuck Norris/Steven Segal/Tim Tebow on their asses?
i think a lot of it is for 'insurance' purposes.
we never 'expect' to get mugged, or someone to break into our homes etc; but I'd rather have something to at least try to defend myself and family, than not.

I hear what you're saying; most who have CCW will probably never 'need' them per se; but I advocated CCW because the more CCW, over time, will hopefully lead to less random violent crime. (wishful thinking).

when I lived in grandview, I heard a noise outside; grabbed my pistol and told the wife to hid in the other bedroom closet and call the po-po. I assumed position at the doorjam of my room and waited.
Nothing happened, etc; but the police did find broken wood along the window frame of our basement window / attempted intrusion. had that guy succeeded that night (or if he planned on coming back at a later time) i would've had to take him out. I have already come to terms with the fact that if someone is in my house unlawfully, I am not going to apply diplomacy and try to work it out. I'm shooting to kill. not wound. period.

scary to think about, but I think if you have a weapon for personal protection, you need to ask yourslef the question "can i kill another human being in self defense" before buying one. any hesitation in this decision at the time of a scenario like I described, could end up very very badly for you.

Sure, I get that. Maybe a handgun locked up and ready for such purposes... but machine guns and automatic shotguns? I mean, unless you are selling lots of coke...

Not very many people have machine guns. Do you consider this a machine gun?

Hooey. There is a recreational aspect to some of these firearms for one thing. Secondly, I don't find myself interested in defending myself with my Granddad's hand me down pea shooter.

I'll be the first to tell you from experience that if someone has a gun in your face, I don't care what you are armed with it won't do you a damn bit of good.

I've got one of those. The gun isn't all that intimidating, but the hollow points I put in it could be.

This is my peashooter. Just a little too bulky to carry though.

Sharp. My peashooter isn't made for hiding - it's a long barrel .22, lol. Even with the hollow points, I run the danger of just pissing off the shootee if I score the hit....
