Michael Ash critical of Chiefs' draft
I liked the tight end part. The tradition continues.

What a disappointing draft, who's gonna play the nose this year? Edwards again? some Dorsey as Jay Ratliff bs? the fat guy from 'Lost'? Romeo himself? Dan Williams gets away, ok that sucks but Cody's still around, no? well i guess Linvall Joseph sounds right for the part, no? really? ok, ok Cam Thomas still sounds promising... no? are you serious? A 5th for a LB?
Berry had better be Berry, Berry good. If McCluster is as good as advertised & is going to be used as a playmaking Welker/Harvin slot man & returner, not RB, i can really dig it, though i was irate at first, like just about everyone... A RB?!! PIOLI YOU MOTHER ****ING MUTT. And i guess my homeskillet brawler Asamoah wasnt too bad of a choice, but otherwise i am very disappoint. |

I don't think that's a shot at Gronkowski. It's just saying the Pats drafted another TE, so Pioli had to keep pace.

The Patriots do have a really weird obsession with drafting TE's.

And we did the same last year, s that 4 picks in two years on TE. Great investment.

I'm surprised so many people really think that Cody was even someone that the Chiefs would have drafted. I can't imagine that our athletic enforcing HC wouldn't have been putting a veto on that from day one.
There is also a philosophy that you can never have too many corners, so if Arenas is any good at CB then I'm sort of okay with that. Especially when you look at how many games we lost just because teams could bring in a 3rd or 4th WR and were guaranteed an open target. I'd love to know what Weiss was saying about his old players in the draft room that may have lead to us not selecting them. As for TE's, it feels like we have drafted 20 of those in the last 10 years, I don't think we can have a Chiefs draft without one head scratching TE draft selection. The kids highlight video looked pretty decent, though I would have liked to see some more in traffic going up and fighting for the ball. |

I think teams are drafting more TEs because of the obvious mismatches they can create over the middle. They are also being asked to block in the run game. There are too many that can only do half of that equation.
