Anybody know what this is on my street?


There is one of these contraptions on the middle of my road... I assume it is to gauge the average speed that cars travel down the road, but I could be wrong... any clue?

The double tube layout might suggest they are doing a speed study along with a car count.

Nah, the double is so they can detect which direction the cars are traveling. In order to accurately measure the speed the tubes would have to be set a specific distance apart and stay exactly in place. They have other ways to detect speed.
