DraftPlanet/CasinoPlanet: A Proposal

Every year, we have the debate about when (and if) Draft Planet and Casino Planet should be hidden from the top and when (and if) they should be brought back. This has all been discussed ad nauseum around here, so I won't reiterate everything, but the basic idea is that there's not a LOT of talk in the regular season about the draft (though there is some), and there's not a LOT of talk in the offseason about fantasy sports (though there is some). So, it would be nice to have them both available year-round, but doing so adds another subforum to an already large list at the top of the Lounge. (Yes, you can hide them, but 90% of people don't, and they'd still be there for guests and the like.)

After a brief chat about it in the mod forum, we'd like to propose that the two forums be combined into one, but left up year-round. We'll add prefixes to the forum so that the different topics can be distinguished from each other and filtered if desired. It won't be the cleanest combination ever, but I think it'll be manageable given that people are already used to the hodgepodge of topics they sort through in the Lounge anyway and that the activity in those forums is comparatively low anyway.

Anyway, this thread is mainly to see if there are any strong objections to doing so. I might add a poll to this thread later if necessary, but the current thinking is that we'll do it unless a bunch of people hate it.

Discus.

Just to clarify, are you implying that the user interface isn't important to finding and retaining users? Of course this is minor, but it's the combination of the little things that make places professional and successful. Do we have to have the OP on every thread? Of course not, but it helps to retain continuity throughout a thread. Do we have to have gray boxes on the left to separate posts from user information? Nope, but it helps to make a thread easier to read. This place is made up of hundreds and hundreds of tweaks that have been added over the years, and a minor decision like what subforums go at the top is just one of those.

Or, if none of it matters, we could always go back to this:

Doesn't really help that a draft thread is the 4th thread down.

It was a thread started for the EXACT purpose that you guys have been complaining about throughout this thread.

I put in to a mod to have the thread title changed. Which it was, and then this anonyous mod who won't admit to it in this thread took it upon himself to move it to an unrelated forum. The thread was moved, for absolutely zero reason.

It's possible this was an error... in the same way it's possible food will accidentally end up in my stomach around breakfast time. But it's also entierly possible that a mod moved it as a middle finger. CP mods have done worse for less.

I don't remember submitting a complaint, why should I? It was a clear middle finger. I can piss and moan about it, or I can move on. I moved on.

Then this thread came along, and mods complain ad nauseum about those darned mock draft threads, if only somebody would do something about them............

In all honesty, I was a little confused and didn't really like an extra forum added on top...it made things feel weird. I know no one cares what I think (duh), but I don't see why we can't just merge Draft/Casino...seems pretty ridiculous. Of course, the drafturbators run draft planet so it makes sense...that crew bitches about everything.

THE TIME OF YEAR they actually use DraftPlanet, no one uses CasinoPlanet. No one. So it would be the same damn forum with a random FFL thread here and there. Big whoop.

there is like 3 people who use DP after the draft...and there are like 10 people who use CP during FFL season (which I like)...as a regular in casino during FFL season, I have no problems with DP invading my space, as I like reading about the draft and random mocks anyways. Actually makes my lurking life on that forum easier (since I won't forget about it)
