My take on the "situation"

I know just from the few times I've been on here, this has been discussed to the point of ad nauseam...However, and with that said, I'm going to give my angle on this whole debacle.

First off, a broke dick Manning is better than a 100% Matt Cassel. Sorry Matt, but its true, you've had 3 years to prove yourself to this organization. I don't know what Pioli sees in him, but its clearly not the same thing us fans have had to witness over that time period. So Manning would be a HUGE upgrade at the QB position. However, I do have to question whether or not his injury could see him retire much sooner than we could be anticipating. What if he takes another huge hit again? How well will he play after being out of the game for 1.5 years? Lots of questions, so it would be a risk to sign him.

Another thing I don't think a lot of people are taking into consideration here...when it comes to Manning "picking" a team, he is probably going to go with the team that he thinks has the best chance to win. That is not Miami. Lets not forget that Miami was a team last year that lost 7 games in a row before they won their first game. Sure, they ended the season on a high note, but they are not a good team compared to the chiefs from a talent standpoint.

Additionally, I can't help but think Manning would want to stay in the Mid-West. He's just lived here for the past several years...Also, something that a lot of people seem to be overlooking is the fan base differences between the two cities. If he is going to go anywhere, you'd think he would pick a place to play where the fans are passionate about their football. Sorry Miami, but you are not the type of town that screams "football". Manning would be getting a similar climate to the one he experienced at Indianapolis if he were to come to KC. He knows what it can be like to play here. (2003 playoffs, 2004 shootout, etc) He would be literally inheriting a fanbase that is far and above that of what can be found in Miami.

Finally, the money is all there...The supporting talent around him, is also there. (Center and RT should be upgraded, maybe you sign a Jeff Saturday and draft a young talented RT with the first pick) What will really make or break this deal imo is the front office in KC. Its already been said, we need to go all in if we are to pursue Peyton.... Manning has MAYBE 2-3 years max left in him...If we can get the type of production out of Manning that we got out of Trent Green, Chief nation will be happy, Pioli will look like a genius, and Crennel will look like Belichick! Okay, maybe not...But I am having a hard time trying to stay pessimistic when the outlook for this team has never looked better in the past few years.

Sure, none of that helps...but 3 years is still enough time to see what we have in him. His "good" year was predicated around a weak schedule and a relatively stout defense. Cassels most impressive games of 2010 came where he literally had zero pressure from the opposing teams offense. If it comes to a "shoot out" cassel is not a good QB. When it comes to the two minute offense, Cassel is not a good QB. There is a reason why he has been a career backup in NE.

And thank God we didn't have to go searching through another Manning thread to get the OP's take. I was getting stressed out about being able to find it.
