The Giants had the 32nd ranked running game. The Patriots were 17th.

They beat teams with decent running games in conference championship games.

Passing yards are tits.

In a league littered with one dimensional teams, the team with the ability to pass the ball is going to win more often than not.

The Texans were the only team that could have gone into the playoffs with a balanced attack, and they didn't get to do that because of the injury to Schaub.

If they get the same kind of production next year from Schaub and Foster/Tate, I would put my money on them for the SB.

They need the same production from their defense also. They lost Williams, and last year was a bit of a surprise considering it was their first year in a 3-4. Wade Phillips did a terrific job last year.

Teams the Patriots faced in the AFC playoffs:
Broncos(1st in rushing,31st in passing) 22nd in D
Ravens(10th in rushing, 19th in passing) 2nd in D

Teams the Giants faced in the NFC playoffs:
Falcons(17th in rushing, 8th in passing)6th in D
Packers(27th in rushing, 3rd in passing)14th in D
49ers( 8th in rushing, 29th in passing)1st in D

If anything, I would say the Giants are an outlier.

So two teams with below average rushing offenses bested 3 teams with top 10 rushing offenses.

Thanks for my making my point for me.

BTW, 2010 Packers? 24th in rushing. And they beat the "balanced" Steelers.

If we miss the playoffs again, Chiefsplanet will rise like a great, angry Kraken, and break tidal waves of rage upon the rocks of Pioli's fat face.

If th chiefs were to have a dreadul season, I think there would be a large group of fans that would just do other things. The chiefs would be an after thought. Or at least they'll stop acting like arrowhead and the chiefs are some sort of awesomeness. They'll realize the chiefs are no different than the lions, and browns.

Nothing works out perfectly everytime.

The Packers, though, did have a far better defense in '10 than the Patriots did in '11.

Nope the giants had a terrible rushing attack in the regular season due to injuries.

When healthy in the playoffs they were much better than their regular season totals

They beat the Packers AND the 49ers with less than 100 yards rushing in both games.

Passing yards are tits.
