Never forget those who we lost on 9-11 and we will always honor those who served in the name of justice.

Shoutouts to those brave firefighters, policemen, and everyone else who went into those burning buildings to save people. Also our troops you all are badasses thank you for your service.

Yes, I have older children and we recently had a healthy first son who is now 6 weeks old. Every previous 9-11 since Emersyn's passing has been a weepfest and difficult for my wife. It's just another day for me since I'm a dude but it hurts watching someone you love struggle. So, today was awesome. Definitely some of the pain has eased because another year has passed but having a newborn around to fill that empty spot has been amazing therapy for my wife. We'd have most definitely not had more kids had Emersyn been healthy so while the boy doesn't replace her, it does help fill that void - including the nursery that had gone untouched since her death until the boy became obviously viable and she started nesting.
I'm glad things are looking up for you and your wife. We have four kids, but had two miscarriages along the way (the loss is similar, but in no way the same).

Not true. At the highest levels (around 1300 feet), you would not be at a high enough altitude to gain enough speed to pass out before you hit the ground. I don't know where you get the "dead before you even hit the pavement" comment from. The only thing that might cause you to die would be a heart attack, but that's hardly a given.

I've jumped from 18+ and don't think I've come close to "pass out speed", I'm not sure there is such a thing. I'm also not sure they were even high enough to reach terminal velocity.

It's a pretty amazing song. When it first came out I'll be honest, my first thought was he was trying to cash in on the tragedy and I didn't like that. Since I heard the story of how it came to be and what his thoughts are on it I changed my mind and just appreciate it for what it is... an extremely heartfelt reflection and well written song.
