Chiefs’ updated salary-cap figures
Chiefs’ updated salary-cap figures
By ADAM TEICHER The Kansas City Star The Chiefs’ salary cap, after adjustments, is $139,377,454. They currently have salary cap obligations of $135,767,507, leaving them with $3,609,947 of cap room as they get close to the NFL Draft. The Chiefs’ salary cap obligations consist of their top 51 cap figures, which total $120,733,362, and their so-called “dead money,” which equals $15,034,145. Quote:

So, will people finally stop with the CHEAPS bullshit? They haven't been cheap, just incompetent. Hopefully that'll change under the new regime.

Dorsey could have voided the final year of his contract mea ing any signing bonus spread over five years instead of four still had to count.

I can't imagine how, but it's possible that Dorsey earned bonus money that fell into the unexpected to be earned last year, which would be rolled over into this year's cap.

It's possible. The only contact info I can get is that he signed a 5 year 51 million dollar deal in 08.

Gabe Miller gets $100k. What a lucky guy, we drafted him in the fifth round and were apparently the only ones who had ever heard of the guy.

Not that it will happen but I could see where Jordan's appeal would grow on draft day...

That's a lot of dead money. Tyson Jackson still makes too much money.

I don't think they'd cut him this year, but the Chiefs do need more than just 2 pass rushers. They could play Jordan on 3rd down in coverage too.

Dead Money by teams
1. OAKLAND: $26,601,452 Richard Seymour represents half of that number at $13,714,000, and the recently released Darrius Heyward-Bey is a healthy chunk at $5,260,000. If you're wondering why the Raiders are in the state they're in, consider they drafted Heyward-Bey with their 2009 first round pick and they traded their 2011 first round pick for Seymour. (Also, that little thing about drafting JaMarcus Russell first overall in 2007. That, too.) 2. JACKSONVILLE: $24,012,892 The Jags "dead money" ledger reads like a "Who's who" in shitty Jaguar business decisions: wide receiver Laurent Robinson (cut after one season, $9,000,000 hit), safety Dawan Landry (cut after two sesaons $3,900,000 hit), linebacker Clint Session (cut after two seasons $3,600,000 hit), Mike Thomas (traded to Detroit one season into a long term extension, $3,600,000 hit). There's a reason they're so terrible. Actually, there are a thousand reasons, this just happens to be one of them. 3. KANSAS CITY: $13,326,323 Two biggest "dead money" hits here are quarterback Matt Cassel ($3,950,000) and tackle Eric Winston ($3,000,000), who were both at the center of the whole "cheering for Cassel getting hurt" controversy. I guess they don't have to worry about that anymore. 4. ARIZONA: $12,410,450 Quarterback Kevin Kolb represents about half of this number at $6,000,000 in "dead money." Moving along... 5. ATLANTA: $11,513,432 http://blogs.houstonpress.com/hairba...one.php?page=2 |

Here's a great article about the cap and the rookie contracts affecting it.

But is the only reason Seymour is gone from Oakland money related? That dude was a beast every fricking time they played us. How is it that he is still a FA?
