Wrong. Bad pitchers can save 3 run leads. If they dont, you are just running bad. Having a "closer" is one of the most reeruned and backwardass thoughts in sports. You should have someone to stop the fire in close important games, REGARDLESS of what inning it is.

I'm totally on board with the closer thing is damn overrated. Many times middle relievers come in for more pressure packed situations and harder pitching situations than closers. I am, however, not on board with not pitching a guy who has been THE best reliever in baseball in a stretch run in an game that is 3 runs or less. That makes NO sense.

It had good depth and he did a pretty good job staying on top of it. It was flashing 1-7 pretty sharply.
So... it was pretty good. He wasn't dropping it in for a lot of called strikes, but he got it close enough to induce a few weak contacts and some swing-and-miss while making guys think about it. Fastball and change were his keys today. Once Danny gets the feel for his changeup back, he's going to be just fine. 95 mph fastball paired with an 82-83 change is freaking sick (that's a vintage Lincecum combination).

One run and six hits in 18 innings against the Tigers. Amazing.
