LNBS: Are We Underrating The DE Position?

Yes it's the off season.

Yes we probably can get better on the interior oline but you can find those guys for the low see Wiz.

Okafor is a solid DE can get you 8 sacks or so. Put that with Jones (who will be back) and Clark were talking nearly 30 sacks and for the most part solid on the run.

I made this this thread because I've seen some mocks that have us taking Marlon Davidson.

Not the sexiest pick for us casuals however he ranks I believe 8th? In Auburn sack history. Reminds me of another non-sexy pick at the time Dee Ford. Other than his inability to line up onsides had the ability to get 10-15 sacks in a season.

Let's discuss a guy who can get us 10-15 sacks a year paired with Clark and Jones with an offense that can get you 28 a game.

You wish he would have tested better, because even watching his gameplay he does not scream “explosive athlete”.

But what I cannot ignore is how damn good he is at block shedding. He has such quick shed/escape moves and he is really efficient running the proper track in pursuit/chase. He’s got a great long arm and stab technique and he times plays on the qb’s throwing arm with precision. He sets the edge well in the run game and patiently anchors when needed. I hope this can carry over to the next level, because his athleticism is pedestrian. If Veach ends up taking him, I’m on board.

Agreed. He is a pure old school football player for sure. But there are many good ones in the NFL that tested average at the combine IMHO.
