Back Surgery

Anyone had any experience with having multiple discs removed?

The reason I ask is tomorrow morning I'm going to have two more (had L5-S1 removed and fused already) removed. I'll end up with L3-L4-L5-S1 all fused together.
I haven't ran across anyone IRL who has had this done so I figured I'd of course come to the fountain of all knowledge and ask.
Just wondering how well it worked out, how much pain relief, effect on day to day life, etc.

I had this surgery in June of 2019! L3-S1 Fusion. My results were amazing with nearly 100% pain relief!
My surgeon was Dr Byrd at Nebraska Spine. Amazing man and surgeon. The biggest thing in my opinion is to absolutely follow your restrictions rules. It takes a while. A year out you’re still healing. Best of luck to you!

Good luck with that. That nerve pain was unbearable for me. I couldn’t sit up or lay down without it completely lighting me up. Had to walk around with my arm up and holding on to my head. That bulging disc had completely compressed the nerve. Tried the steroid injections and PT which were useless. I can’t believe the relief that the surgery gave me. This is the surgery I had at South Florida Orthopedics.

Pulling for you. I know exactly what you are going through.

That's great. I'll be glad just to be able to go back on ibuprofen and still function.

Dang it Stumpy, hope all goes well.

Side note, I left the pain clinic last week and they want to do the shots in the back, spinal nerve on me. Some of the testimonies in this thread is making me reevaluate this process.

Damn. Wish you the best. I'm fighting to avoid having the first one, from what I gather, if you get one, plan on more.

No experience, sorry, but hope it goes smooth.
