Classic brown sound, love how wide his chorus effect, shit was mixed right. Panning spot on. His guitar work is so huge but not so big that you can't hear a little dlr. I love the huge sound EVH gets in these old records.

He announced that 5 shows in Las Vegas around New Years would be his last and he is retiring.

In a typical rambling statement he's known for, he kind of made it sound health related.

I’ve done so much youtub deep diving into Eddie. I was already a fan, even more so.

And the side caveat….. His son,Wolfgang has a really good album and sounds really good live. Cheers to all things Van Halen, past to the future.

It's probably more because he sucks now. He got kicked off the Kiss tour because Gene thought he no longer has it. You have to suck pretty hard to get kicked off a Kiss tour in the year 2021, and I don't even dislike Kiss.

Yeah, he's pretty bad and has been for a while. "Official" story is he wasn't kicked off the KISS tour...he just wasn't asked back when they resumed after covid.
Gene was a giant dick about it though (surprise) with his comments. No reason to shit on a guy like that publicly. I mean, DLR had just done some Vegas shows before the KISS gig...watching video of that would have let the KISS people know he no longer had it. Not like it was a secret.

I do think that the reference to health issues was a cover for finally knowing it's time to stop and to maybe goose the sales of those final shows.
