I was at a Chiefs/Bears preseason Monday night game in '96 that was the same way. I couldn't have been any wetter had I been swimming in nearby Lake Michigan.

The funny thing was I remember my buddy and I were completely miserable until we just said **** it and gave up even attempting to stay dry under the various items of overpowered plastic we had. After that, it was okay. It was August, and while it was raining buckets it wasn't cold.

They actually stopped and then cancelled the game in the third quarter due to nearby lightning strikes. That was the first time I ever saw a game get called early because of weather. Of course it was only preseason.

Before the game started I got Marcus Allen's autograph on the bill of my hat. It was in a bag with my wallet; the only two things on my person that night that remained dry.

that helps when you fall behind.

Lamar is 0-6 when facing a deficit of 10+ points. 10 point deficits shouldnt be a death sentence with the Baltimore D.

Honestly it felt to me like the rain was giving the Ravens more trouble than Belichick's defense. Lot of dropped balls, and I'm sure Lamar was having a tough time throwing it in the poor conditions as well. Last year, Lamar torched Belichick's defense.

Actually, Lamar isn't that bad against NE.

Last season BAL won, and Lamar posted decent QB numbers:
17/23 163 yds 7.1yds/a 1TD 0 INT 1 sacked 84.9 QBR 107.7 PRTG

Okay, not great, but a ton of 2nd year QBs have done much, much worse against Bill.

In last night's game during a literal monsoon, he posted:
24/34 249yds 70.6 CMP% 7.3 yds/a 2TDs 1 INT 68.3 QBR 98.8 PRTG

Again, not great, but not really bad either, especially considering the weather conditions which were very close to unplayable. And Lamar had at least three passes that hit receivers between the numbers that were dropped, so his completion% should've been somewhere around 80%, in a wind tunnel filled with flying buckets of water.

My point is that Lamar may not be a great QB, but he is one of the few young QBs that has played against NE and Bill's defense and not really lost much efficiency.

Agreed.

Given the weather, I'd say the Baltimore D was the least impressive part of their team last night. They really should not have been handled by that offense.

The QBR numbers look pretty great to me. 68/100 in terrible weather is excellent. Brady won MVP a few years ago while averaging about 71/100 per game. The 85/100 QBR for Lamar last year is downright awesome, especially since Belichick had the best defense in the league at full strength compared to all the COVID quitters this year. 85/100 QBR is similar to what Lamar averaged for the entire season as MVP.

Baltimore got pretty beat up in the injury department last night didn't they?

Yep. Doyle is done. Campbell is out. Wolfe got dinged up, which is usual for him.

They had virtually zero injuries last year. They were due, honestly.

Agreed.

I think you meant Boyle. His knee injury looked horrific.
