Reid: Doors open for Fisher & Schwartz

well, it's always good policy to keep the doors open for anyone in good standing, and Fisher is definitely that.

I think the question I would be asking is three-fold:

1. Is Fish even going to be ready to play at some point this year?
2. If 1. = yes, then when?
3. If 2. = late in the season / playoffs, then why wouldn't we keep the door open

The season is long, players are going to get hurt, and there is going to be an eventual market for quality linemen along the way. If Fish is ready by the time playoffs roll around, somebody is going to put him on a roster....who better than us if it works financially?

It takes two to tango. Would Fisher even be willing to resign knowing he would have to take less to be a backup? Pretty sure that's not likely. I could see him going someplace like Indy though.

I see people saying that these guys won't sign unless they get to be starters. At this point under the circumstances I don't believe that is so. I see two guys who probably won't be ready by training camp and maybe not even till the season has already started. Who is going to sign them to be starters under this circumstance? So I can see them agreeing to a contract as a backup for the Chiefs with a chance to get another ring.

That said what is their latest status report?
