Following this thread not trying to hijack it....but Will be in Sarasota for a week this June and looking for a few things to do. Main thing is relaxation and chilling but can't just sit around all week. Going to do a fishing trip one day so looking for a few things to do.....What does the planet have? No strippers and it's a family thing!

You got kids? Disney and Universal is an hour away. You can take the kids to see Gators and Manatees in their natural environment. St. Pete has the longest pier in the USA on the water. They have a tiki bar on the 3rd level. Aquarium out there. Kids can fish off the pier. Also the longest continuous park along the water in the USA. Probably see some Dolphins along the seawall or go on a Dolphin tour to see them. They follow the boat from behind and play in the wake, jump out of the water and over the waves. very cool first time you see it. Take a Gulf ferry to Tampa and explore there and ride it back. There are two natural undeveloped islands in the gulf for day trips, It's cheap.$20 a head. They drop you off. Come back and pick you up later. One has an old civil was fort on it to explore, the other has a Spanish/American era fort on it. The beaches are fantastic, you'll find great seashells and shark teeth laying everywhere. Nothing there but the old forts and you surrounded by water on a great beach. Adult actives? Both downtown St. Pete and Tampa have thriving entertainment districts for some nightlife action.

Alll true and good. Been there, done that. We have gone to Kona for the past 7 years, been all over FL, (still like Naples the best), and wanted to go somewhere else this year. ANY of these places in Florida or Hawaii are better than WISCONSIN in March. |
